A lot of the questions I get asked by newer affiliates are really good questions, but honestly I can’t answer them as I don’t have the information they are looking for. It generally involves information about offers, demographics, landing page styles, etc. What a lot of people don’t realize, is generally their affiliate managers can give them a ton of valuable information to succeed.
To be a good affiliate marketer (or any type of marketer for that matter), you need to be at least one step ahead of your customer. When your customer is looking for swimsuits for the summer, you should already be in the planning stagesof what you are going to be doing for fall, or even better yet, “pre-fall”.
Last night was opening night for the new Transformers Revenge of the Fallen movie. A couple of the middle school guys that I mentor really wanted to go to the midnight showing so I decided to take them. Maybe it’s the fact that I didn’t get to bed until 4am last night, or that we were out of coffee this morning, but I’ve been thinking about how there are a lot of similarities between the Transformers and affiliate marketers.
When people first start out in affiliate marketing, most of them make the mistake of choosing which affiliate programs to promote based solely on which ones offer the highest commissions. While that is one of the most important factors to consider, there is plenty more you need to think about before promoting an offer.
