How To Remove The Admin Toolbar In WordPress

Since the recent launch of WordPress 3.1, I’ve seen quite a few people who don’t like the admin toolbar that shows up on top of all pages and posts. While I think it’s great as it gives me quick access to what I use most often, other people don’t care for it to much.

Wordpress Admin Toolbar

Here’s how to remove it in a few easy steps.

  1. Login to your WordPress admin area
  2. Click on “users” in the sidebar
  3. Click on your profile
  4. Uncheck “Show Admin Bar”

The unofficial step #5 would be to drink a beer and gaze longingly at your toolbar free site.

  7. I was kind of thrown back at first glance. But seeing as there are admin bars in themes I use, I found it quite refreshing.

I love the short code feature, which is a throwback to non-permalinks.
